Important Meeting Update (COVID-19)
Dear Palms 2020 attendees and friends,
We all have witnessed unprecedent changes in the world in the last couple of weeks with the rapid global expansion of COVID-19. The Palms 2020 organizing committee have been actively monitoring the situation to take a timely decision on what should be the best way adjust our planned event in face of this ever-changing context. We have now decided to postpone the 7th World Palm Symposium to 2021 with date to be confirmed. This was a very difficult decision to make but safeguarding the health and safety of all attendees and their families is of upmost importance for us. We fully recognize that COVID-19 presents an unprecedented situation and we can offer to reimburse your registration if you won’t be able to attend to the event in the new date or because of a change in your circumstances.
Major travel and conference restrictions are still in place in many parts of Brazil, including Rio de Janeiro. We plan to realize Palms 2020 still in the first semester of 2021. We are expecting to be able to confirm a new date when social distancing measurements are relaxed and global travel re-established. Meanwhile, all accepted sections will be retained, and section organizers will have the option to update or cancel their submission in due time. Likewise, all submitted abstracts will be kept in the system, also with the option of being updated or cancelled. With this, hope to keep most of our program updated to 2021.
For travel grants, we would like to ask for each participant to restate their attendance when the new date is confirmed. Please be aware that the grant values may change due to exchange rates and that the grant agreement will be prepared after acceptance.
We thank you all for your understanding and cooperation. We also hope that you are all safe, healthy and still enthusiastic about Palms 2020 in the months to come.
And stay tuned for updates!

The 7th edition of the World Palm Symposium will be held in Brazil, one of the most palm-rich countries of the world!
Rio de Janeiro is located within the Atlantic Forest range, a biome holding several (68 species) palm species, many of which are endemic.
It will be a fantastic opportunity to attend a conference with palm experts from all over the world, while at the same time visiting one of the most beautiful metropolis in the world, surrounded by rich palm communities and unique biodiverse forests.
